Root Boy Slim! Anyone ever have the privilege of seeing him? - I did multiple times in the 80s and am better for it. Put on one of the funnest nights out ever. Just curious if any Root Boy fans around these parts.

Another great band I saw a lot in small clubs back then was NRBQ - one of the criminally underrated bands.

Thought of both because of what thought was reference in another post to Little Charlie and the Nightcats, another band along with Roomful of Blues and Subdudes saw handful of times and always delivered.

Never had the pleasure, with regard to ANY that you mentioned.

I do remember Root Boy Slim & The Sex Change Band, but I was more familiar with a sort of vague notoriety they had for being strange and outrageous than I actually was with any of their songs. I just looked at the Wikipedia page about the guy---strange and, ultimately, a sad tale.

But I used to have my share of Little Charlie & The Nightcats (REALLY like that band!) and Roomful of Blues in the CD collection. Subdudes are okay---I'm not a BIG fan, but they're alright.

Oh yeah, almost forgot NRBQ---you're absolutely right: much, MUCH smaller recognition among the masses than they deserve. Those guys are legendary.

I was a fan of NRBQ back in the day, it's been a long time sing I listened to them. There should be a picture of them in the dictionary under "fun band."

Yankee Stadium, cult classic.

No the Fat Boy Slim I'm Thinking of was a genuine blues-rock act. Only saw Him Once on the Vinyard but I remember the guy was very Big, Bad ass, and was making a big name for himself in the Jam scene at the time. {around 93-95 I think}.
